Just Days Out has again been fortunate enough to obtain a block of tickets on the 14:50 round-trip service between Wansford and Peterborough. This fabulous trip, hauled by The Flying Scotsman steam train, is preceded by a 2 course lunch at The River Mill Pub.

The Nation's Favourite Locomotive

The Flying Scotsman appears on Nene Valley Railway with kind thanks to the National Railway Museum and Riley & Son (E) as a thank you for the assistance provided by NVR in October 2017 with repairs to the steam locomotive.
Flying Scotsman was originally built in Doncaster for the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER), emerging from the works on 24 February 1923 and initially numbered 1472. It was designed by Sir Nigel Gresley as part of the A1 class – the most powerful locomotives used by the railway.

Your price includes:

  • Return Coach travel to Wansford Station and to/from the River Mill;
  • 2 course lunch at the River Mill (a Grade II listed watermill set alongside the river Great Ouse and a small marina):
    • Choice of Shepherd’s pie or Mushroom Stroganoff served with winter vegetables;
    • Apple crumble with custard;
    • Tea & Coffee.
  • Tickets with reserved seating for return steam rail journey pulled by Flying Scotsman along the Nene Valley Railway;
  • The services of our courier who accompanies the day trip throughout.

Your Itinerary for the day

  • 12:00 arrive River Mill for lunch.
  • 14:00 arrive Wansford Station by coach.
  • 14:50 depart Wansford Station for 1 hour steam train journey to Peterborough (refreshments available on the train).
  • 15:53 arrive Wansford Station.
  • 17:00 coach departs Wansford Station back to your original joining point.
  • We expect to return to your original joining point between 19:15-20:15.
