Tour of the Darent Valley, 2 course lunch and Ightham Mote (18-Sep-19)

In the morning we will tour the Darent Valley before stopping for lunch at a quintessential Kent country pub. In the afternoon we visit Ightham (pronounced ‘item’) Mote - a fabulous moated mansion house with extensive gardens, historic apple orchard and a lake (National Trust).

The Darent Valley is full of tiny villages, historical buildings and outstanding countryside. During your tour we will pass through the villages of Faringham, Eynsford, Lullingstone, Shoreham and Otford.

Ightham Mote and its Manor House nestles at the bottom of a valley in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Dating from the fourteenth century the medieval moated house has seen many changes throughout its history. Today Ightham Mote is a Grade I listed building and a Scheduled Ancient Monument (preserved by the National Trust) set within peaceful gardens comprising an orchard, lakes and woodland walks.

Itinerary:

  • Tour of the Darent Valley followed by two course lunch in The Plough at Ivy Hatch;

  • 14:00 arrive at Ightham Mote;

  • 17:00 depart Ightham Mote;

  • return to same joining points between 19:00 and 20:30.
