The Canal Museum and Stoke Bruerne

The Canal Museum is at the heart of the beautiful village of Stoke Bruerne on the Grand Union Canal. It’s a treasure trove of stories, displays, films and collections all about our waterways. The Canal Museum, housed on two floors of a historic corn mill, provides a free audio guide that will take you on a journey through the stories and traditions of Britain's historic canals.

The village itself is full of little surprises – not least the towpath to the Blisworth Tunnel, where boaters used to 'leg' their boats through the narrow passage. You'll find an idyllic picture of passing canal boats, thatched cottages and local wildlife. Most of the buildings in the village have been around for over 200 years.
